• Fine Arts

    Senior artists Jalyn Macy, Mckae Bailey, James Woods, Lauren Olson and Tessa Hrkal, and junior Jess Novack received honors at the 2012 MN Scholastic Art Awards Contest.

  • Technology

    English classrooms are piloting a classroom set of Chromebooks second semester. These laptops run entirely via the Cloud using the Google Chrome operating system and web apps.

  • MWHS Marching Band

    Every fall, the MWHS band turns into a marching band to lead the homecoming parade from Hilltop Primary School up County Rd. 110 to the high school.

  • Distinguished Students

    Each quarter MWHS recognizes standout students who excel in the classroom. The students are nominated by their teachers who submit essays about their achievements.

  • Celebration Assemblies

    Held four times a year, celebrations assemblies reward students for good grades, perfect attendance, & random acts of kindness.

  • Honors Classes

    A variety of Honors classes are offered in most academic areas. The challenging curriculum suits students looking to stand out on college transcripts and scholarship applications.

  • Drama

    The drama dept. produces a musical and a play each school year. Musical cast members repeatedly win “SpotLight” awards for their performances.

  • Exchange Students

    MWHS hosts numerous exchange students each year from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and South America.

  • Physical Education

    “The weight room is used by phy ed classes, kids who are getting fit for a sport, and some who just want to improve their fitness," says instructor Kyle Inforzato.

  • Hawkettes Go to State!

    Qualifying in both Jazz & High Kick 2 years in a row, Dance scored its highest scores of the season. Coach Molly Carlson called their performances "pure perfection."

  • Athletics

    Boys Swim & Dive turned in a perfect undefeated season for the first time in the Westonka/Orono co-op team's history. The team won the WCC Championship.

  • AP Courses

    MWHS offers a full portfolio of honors & college-level courses. Students can earn college credit by scoring a 3 or 4 the AP (Advance Placement) tests.

  • Languages

    Four levels of Spanish and Mandarin are offered. College-in-Schools Spanish is also available for college credit through the U of M.

  • Authors & Illustrators

    Author and illustrator Alicia Schwab presented to a group of creative writing and drawing students. Students in these classes are working together to create a children's book.

  • Choir at Orchestra Hall

    MWHS Concert Choir ranks among the top in the state. Last year the choir was one of five to receive an invitation to perform at Orchestra Hall.

  • Sciences

    Science is the process of investigating and solving problems! From Earth Science to Honors Chemistry and AP Physics, we offer a challenge for every student.

  • TV & News Production

    Students in this course produce and present Wake Up Westonka, the MWHS daily announcements show. Students create live and recorded broadcasts and video features.
